1. Enjoy The Exceptional Beauty Of Rudaki Park

The beautiful Rudaki Park is located in Dushanbe, the capital city of Tajikistan. This park which is an oasis of calm and peace is situated right in the heart of the bustling city of Dushanbe. The Rudaki Park is named after the famous 10th century Persian poet, Abu Abdollah Jafar Ibn Mohammed Rudaki. A massive and ornately carved statue of this highly acclaimed poet, occupies a place of prominence in the park. Visitors to the park can also admire the numerous large obelisks, beautiful fountains and monuments which are placed strategically around the exquisitely landscaped grounds.

2. Drive On The High Altitude Pamir Highway

A drive on the adrenaline inducing Pamir Highway is one of the star attractions of a trip to the central Asian nation of Tajikistan. This high altitude road, which has earned the unique distinction of being the second highest road in the world, extends all the way from Khorog to Osh. A drive along this semi paved road, which is 2038 kilometers long, has been celebrated as one of the planets most daring road trips. A journey on this ancient route is probably the best way to relive the glorious days of the Silk Route, when traders and caravanners travelled along the ‘roof of the world’.  A trip along this road affords travelers the unique opportunity to gaze at ancient forts, lofty mountains and dangerous rivers.

3. Hike Along The Banks Of Lake Alexander

The Alexander Lake is named after the famous warrior, King Alexander the Great.  Alexander Lake is also known as Iskanderkul Lake. This lake and its surrounding regions are considered one of the most scenic spots in the central Asian country of Tajikistan. The Alexander or Iskanderkul lake is located deep in the heart of the massive Western Pamir – Alay mountain ranges. This 2.5 kilometers long and 1 kilometer wide lake is extremely popular with locals and tourists alike. Adrenaline junkies and adventure seekers can organise a memorable hike along the banks of this well known lake.

4. Gaze At The Famous Ismoil Statue

Ismoil Statue which is located on Ozodi Square in the capital city of Dushabe, is one of the most discernible monuments to nation building. This monument was constructed to honor Abu Ibrahim Ismail Ibn Ahmed, the 10th century founder of the Samanid Dynasty. This richly decorated statue was inaugurated in 1999. Today, scores of visitors come to gaze this 25 meter statue.

5. Tour The National Library Of Tajikistan

The National Library of Tajikistan, which is 167 meters long and 52 meters high, resembles an open book. This massive 9 storey building was inaugurated in 2012. This colossal library encompasses an area of 45,000 square meters.  The largest library in Central Asia, the National Library of Tajikistan, has over 10 million tomes. This library has 25 reading rooms, 3 exhibition halls, a showroom to display new arrivals and a small coffee shop.

6. Visit The National Museum Of Tajikistan

The National Museum of Tajikistan is located in Dushanbe. This museum has an excellent archaeological collection which is displayed in 22 small and large exhibition rooms. One of the most notable exhibits of this museum is the statue of a thirteen meter long sleeping Buddha. The National Museum of Tajikistan is so large, and its exhibits so extensive, that it takes nearly 4 hours to complete a guided tour of the museum.
